Gateway Shuts Out and Shuts Up Sportsmans

After much trash talking performed by Sportsmans Corkball that they were a better club and had better players, Gateway took the challenge and traveled to Sportsmans’ home field to play a best to 3 points competition (1 point for a tie and 2 points for a win).
For game one, the hard throwing, Tony “The Jet” Minor took the mound and threw 7 solid innings. Gateway out hit Sportsmans, but the first game ended in a 0-0 tie.
In the second game, Gateway deep with pitching, threw Jason “the Hoss” Brown. Brown went 5 scoreless innings and again Sportsmans had a tough time catching up and being able to connect against Gateway’s pitching. In the bottom of the 5th, Gateway put together a string of hits to get a run. Gateway knowing that the game and the series were within reach decided to throw the veteran, Mike “The Craftsman” Goedeker. Sportsmans swung wildly as Goedeker pulled the string out on the ball, dropping it off the table as it reached home plate each time. Goedeker threw 2 hit less innings to earn the save and give Gateway the series win.
Gateway wants to thank John “The Sauce Man” Worcester for helping to coordinate the event and the Sportsmans Corkball Club for hosting. The Gateway Corkball Club looks forward to continuing the healthy rivalry between the two clubs.
